DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- Local students marched Tuesday in the name of equality.

Raising their voices and raising awareness, dozens of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) students rallied on campus standing in solidarity with University of Missouri protesters.

All this after months of anti-racism protests and the threat of a football boycott at the University of Missouri led to an administrative shakeup that ended with the president and chancellor stepping down.

Protests from the students at the university drew attention from the nation and national media.

NSU student Lacei Sams has friends at the university and while she says it's a completely different atmosphere at NSU, she wants to empower her classmates.

"If there is a problem, tell the administrators so they can get it done and if nothing is happening, stand out," said Sams.

They took their march through campus corridors and walkways. While they may not have drawn a crowd, the demonstrators were seen and heard.

NSU administrators said they welcome the demonstration and are united for justice.
