LeBron James Puts His Money Where His Mouth Is

MIAMI (CBS4) - Forget coffee as a main source of energy, LeBron James wants you to take a Sheet.

Sheets Energy Strips, a caffeinated strip that dissolves on the tongue, was launched Wednesday with the help of The Miami Heat star Lebron James.

Purebrands LLC is the company behind the Sheets Brand and James is listed as a co-founder of the product along with his friend and business partner Maverick Carter and the entrepreneurs Warren Struhl and Jesse Itzler.

"I've tried tons of other products in the past and none compare," said James who claims he's been using the product before workouts and Heat games.

But James isn't the only local star associated the product. Miami-based singer Pitbull, along with several other celebrities like Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens, is also behind the strips that are said to provide a caffeine boost equivalent to one cup of coffee.

The familiar faces are all part of the $10 million marketing campaign to support the launch.

"We have a plan, a road map to ensure that our products gets ahead of anybody that wants to try to come into the market, particularly utilizing LeBron and others as the face of our brand," said company CEO, Struhl.

The energy strips are expected to be available nationwide early next month.
