Cabrera Still Not In Tigers Camp

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS4) - Just weeks after getting arrested during a bizarre drunk driving incident in South Florida, Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera may be getting close to finally reporting to spring training.

Ever since his arrest for DUI, Cabrera has reportedly been undergoing medical evaluations by Tigers team doctors and addiction specialists. So far, he hasn't been cleared to arrive at the Tigers spring training facility.

But according to the Detroit News, Cabrera's agent met with Tigers executives for an hour-long meeting Wednesday and the agent, Fernando Cuza, said that it's still too early to tell if Cabrera will be with the team as early as Thursday.

Cabrera was arrested February 15 and charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Cabrera was found by law enforcement on the side of the road near Port St. Lucie, Florida and the car was smoking.

Since then, the Tigers, Major League Baseball, and the MLB Players Association, have been working to coordinate Cabrera's program, according to the Detroit News.
