BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) – It's a rare site to see a man stripped naked in public – but it's becoming more and more common because of the synthetic drug flakka, doctors and police say.
"I feel sorry for them as much as anything. They just cannot control their own behavior," said Dr. Scott McFarland, who is the emergency room medical director of Palm Beach Gardens Hospital.

The most recently case was on Saturday afternoon along Spanish River Boulevard in Boca Raton.
Police arrested a man who was stripped down and sprinting through the busy intersection.
Authorities said he was so focused that they couldn't stop him, until they eventually caught up to him enough and could take him down with a Taser. They believe he was high on something.
A few months ago, police said flakka played a role in this standoff were a naked man was standing on the roof of a building in Lake Worth with a gun.
In another incident they said a man high on flakka attacked an 82-year-old woman on the Riviera Beach.
McFarland said flakka is cheap and dangerous, giving it the nickname "$5 insanity."
Flakka can be smoked, snorted or eaten. It produces hallucinations, which is why police said people high on the drug often end up naked.
People in this state of mind can also be violent and dangerous.
"They must be miserable inside their own skin," said McFarland.
McFarland said his hospital said his staff is prepared to handle people coming in high on this growingly popular designer drug
