For most people who live in Miami, it's pretty much too expensive to do anything past paying your monthly bills. Still, there are plenty of places and things to do around South Florida without breaking the bank.
Window Shop On Lincoln Road
While buying may be off the table, you can have a lot of fun just taking a stroll up and down Lincoln Road on Miami Beach and doing some serious window shopping. From some phenomenal jewelry to Victoria's Secret to breathtaking artwork, you can see it all on Lincoln Road. Plus, if you get hungry during the stroll, there's plenty of food, and if you get bored, you can always check out a movie at the theater on the corner of Lincoln Road and Alton Road.
Have A Picnic On Ft. Lauderdale Beach
Ft. Lauderdale Beach has a Spring Break reputation, but nowadays it's lost that image and is instead slowly remaking itself as a family gathering point. From the incredible ocean breeze to the spectacular ocean views, a picnic on Ft. Lauderdale Beach will be something you and your partner/family will enjoy and the best thing about it is that you only have to pay for parking, everything else is free.
Collect Seashells On Miami Beach
So you've hit up Lincoln Road, enjoyed some good food and great atmosphere on South Beach and you're looking for something to do that will be enjoyable for everyone involved. Well, head over to Miami Beach and begin to collect seashells by the seashore. It'll give you a chance to get your feet wet in the cool Atlantic waters and also give you an excuse to take a long walk on the beach.
Drive The Overseas Highway
So if walking on the beach or window-shopping on Lincoln Road isn't your thing; then you need to hop in the family truckster, fill up the gas tank and head down U.S. 1 into the Florida Keys. The drive itself is something you'll never forget. From having the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other to simply driving on a bridge you think will never end, the Overseas Highway has it all. And if you need a quick eat, there are plenty of great hole-in-the-wall restaurants to satisfy your taste buds.
