Astronauts Perform Final Shuttle Spacewalk

CAPE CANEVERAL, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – A bittersweet historic moment happened outside the International Space Station Friday morning.

Astronauts Mike Fincke and Gregory Chamitoff became the last two spacewalkers of NASA's 30-year-old space shuttle program.

The duo teamed with robot arm operator Gregory Johnson to finish building the ISS by adding an extension pole.

In addition, Friday's spacewalk marked 1,000 hours of spacewalking at the International Space Station.

All future spacewalks, including one during the final shuttle mission in June will be performed by full-time space station residents.
