"It's a frightening experience," witness Aren Khanbabaei told CBS2/KCAL9's Erica Nochlin. "And I don't know what the liquor store is going to go through from having a robbery and a fire experience. It's heartbreaking."
The fire was reported just before 4:40 p.m. outside an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Kingsley Avenue.
Flames had engulfed a portion of the attic and roof of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building along the 3900 block of Roderick Road by 3:20 p.m., leading to a partial roof collapse within minutes, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials.
