Firefighters are battling a small brush fire that has so far charred about three acres of grass and is burning uphill near 4110 N. Monterey Rd. in Montecito Heights, says Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Critical fire weather conditions are coming to Southern California next week, forecasters said Saturday.
A brush fire in the area of 4570 N. Griffin Ave. in Montecito Heights is accelerating uphill and has the potential to grow to 40 acres, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicholas Prange.

There was no word of any threat to structures or evacuations.
Everyone appears to have gotten out of the home safely, the fire department said.
There were no reports of injuries.
One resident told CBSLA he did not realize there was a fire until Pomona police officers banged on his door telling him and his roommates to get out.
