A wrong-way driver died after a head-on crash in Irvine early Monday morning.

It happened just after 1:30 a.m. on Jamboree Road, south of Warner Avenue, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Investigators say that the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound in northbound lanes of Jamboree when he collided with another car.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Later Monday the Orange County Sheriff's Coroner's Department identified the driver as 29-year-old Joshua Kevin Soto of La Habra.

The other driver was not injured in the crash.

Investigators have not yet revealed if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
