Worker Dies In Forklift Accident On Pomona Construction Site

POMONA (CBSLA) – A 20-year-old worker was killed in a construction accident involving a forklift in Pomona, authorities said Saturday.

The Redlands resident was working within a construction zone on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, between Via Verde and Kellogg Drive, the California Highway Patrol said.

He was operating a telescopic forklift, going eastbound on a dirt road south of the freeway when the forklift went down an embankment and the worker was ejected from the vehicle. The forklift landed on top of him.

Paramedics sent to the construction site about 9:40 a.m. Friday pronounced him dead at the scene, the county fire department reported.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be a factor in this incident, the CHP said.
