Woman sexually assaulted, elderly lady punched at grocery store near USC
The Los Angeles Police Department asked for help finding a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman before punching an elderly lady at a grocery store near USC.
The alleged crimes happened seven months ago on Aug. 25 at a grocery store in the 2600 block of S. Vermont Avenue, nearly a half mile away from the university's campus. Detectives said the suspect appeared to follow a 32-year-old woman throughout the market before grabbing her from behind.
When the suspect left the store, he punched an elderly woman in the chest before getting into a friend's car.
Detectives described the suspect as a 30-year-old man with black hair. They believed he is around 5-foot-11 and weighs 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing thick glasses and a burgundy windbreaker with a "Wake & Bake" logo on the back.
His acquaintance's car appeared to be a two-door white sedan with a black hood and spoiler on the trunk, according to LAPD.
"The residents of Los Angeles, our friends and family members, should be free from this behavior," said Detective Robert Smey, a Southwest Division sexual assault investigator. "I encourage anyone with information about the suspect's identification to come forward."
The department released a video of the suspect walking around the local grocery store.
Detectives urged anyone with information about the case or additional victims to call police at (323) 290-2976. Outside of business hours, officers asked people to call 1(877) 527-3247.
