Woman Riding Bicycle Killed By Train In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A woman has died after being struck by a train in Riverside, police said Thursday.

Riverside police said officers responded to the area of Third Street about 11:15 a.m. after a call of a pedestrian struck by a train, according to a written statement.

When they arrived, they determined that the woman was riding a bicycle on Mission Inn Boulevard when a southbound train was passing.

After that train had passed, police said the bicyclist continued but was struck by a northbound train.

Police said it appears the crossing arms, signal lights and audible bells were working at the time of their investigation.

The statement said the woman has not been identified, and the accident remains under investigation.

Anyone with more information about the crash was asked to call detective Felix Soria at (951) 826-8720.
