Woman Due In Court In Attempt To Kidnap Child In Victorville

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — An Apple Valley woman suspected in an attempt to abduct a child at a Victorville park is due in court Friday on a kidnapping charge, authorities said.

Julie Ann Turner, 52, was arrested Wednesday in after an incident earlier in the week in which witnesses said she used candy to try to lure children into her vehicle at Liberty Park in Victorville.

Turner, one mother said, grabbed her child by a wrist and began to pull her toward her vehicle. When the child yelled and her mother began to run toward her, Turner let go and fled, Victorville police said.

After an investigation, Turner was arrested peacefully Wednesday evening at her home and is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
