Strong Wind Causes Hazards In Los Angeles, Orange Counties
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) -- Strong wind throughout the Southland caused several hazards throughout the day Sunday.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was dealing with power outages across the city, impacting hundreds of customers.
In Orange County, Metrolink closed tracks between the Fullerton and Anaheim stations due to downed power lines.
Heavy wind toppled trees in several areas, including Westchester, Bell Gardens, Irvine and Ladera Heights, impacting the Metrolink between Fullerton and Anaheim and putting some evening commutes at a halt.
Some intersections and roadways, including the transition off-ramp on the northbound 710 Freeway to the southbound 405 Freeway, were temporarily blocked.
No injuries related to wind damages were immediately reported.
While the wind was significant, it was only part of Southern California's weather events this weekend alongside rain and snow in the Grapevine.
The California Highway Patrol said although the Interstate 5 Freeway remained open, in some sections of the Grapevine, officials had to escort the traffic as a safety precaution.
