White House To Respond To Piers Morgan Deportation Petition After CNN Host Urges Public To Sign

STUDIO CITY ( — The White House is expected to respond to a petition calling for British CNN host Piers Morgan to be deported after it receives over 39,000 signatures.

The petition, created Friday, was in response to Morgan's gun control views.

He aggressively spoke out following the Newtown, Conn. massacre about his beliefs that the United States should have tighter gun laws.

The petition was created under the "We the People" section of the White House website where citizens can create petitions in order to share feedback.

Last week Morgan called a gun advocate appearing on his show an "unbelievably stupid man."

"British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," the petition said.

25,000 signatures were needed by Jan. 20, 2013 to receive a White House response.

By Monday morning, the petition had 39,768 signatures.

Morgan continued to be vocal Monday.

Pres. Barack Obama responded to 'We the People' petitions related to gun violence Friday in a YouTube video.
