Young up-and-coming artist Michael Edward Miller, from Vancouver, B.C. will present his first LA-based show June 10 to 13 at Opulen Studios. With 8-bit early generation video games, including Mike Tyson's "Punch-Out!!," as a muse, the creative spray paint art is fun, whimsical, and a treat for the eyes.

New media content from the U.S., Australia, Switzerland and Ireland will participate in this film festival, offering you the chance to enjoy creative additions to the film landscape on topics including LGBT films, SRC (Socially Responsible Content), documentaries, science and technology, and animation. Lectures and panels begin at 9:30 a.m. with closing festivities and awards at 7:30 p.m.

This week welcomes the return of the LA Film Festival, running 11 nights this June at L.A. Live and Regal Cinemas. Get involved in helping at-risk youth by joining the non-profit Spark, a national organization that provides life-changing experiences for underprivileged youth in under-served communities across the US. Sugar Rush, SPARK's annual dessert benefit and cocktail reception, will feature tasty dessert treats and a silent auction to help at risk youth in LA.

Celebrate Old Miner's Day with a road trip to Big Bear, California. The Old Miner's have a tradition of saluting first responders and military personnel and the theme of the reception this year is "Big Bear Thanks You," honoring fallen officers from the San Bernardino Sheriffs and Riverside Police departments that lost their lives during the Dorner manhunt that ended nearby. A public display of military and law enforcement equipment, food service, and a parade are just highlights of the day-long thank you that also features family-friendly fun, old fashioned entertainment, and nostalgia.

A fundraising event to support the Barnsdall Arts/Friends of the Junior Arts Center will include a tour of the historic Heim House, refreshments, desserts and wine. The Heim House was built in 1870, one of the original homes built in this region. Barnsdall Arts reaches nearly 200,000 Los Angeles residents yearly and proceeds from the event will fund free art classes for children.
