Video Captures Woman Accused Of Unleashing Unrelenting Beat-Down On Blue Line Train
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman is accused of unleashing a violent and unrelenting beat-down on a Metro Blue Line train in an incident that was caught on video.
The incident happened earlier this week in Long Beach and has prompted riders to wonder why no one came to the aid of the man.
It reportedly unfolded after the man unleashed a drunken volley of racial slurs.
"It's awful. I mean, these people are going crazy, and you're in a confined space, so what do you do?" said Lisa Zazueta, who often rides the Blue Line, where this attack went down.
She says safety is an issue on the line, and intervening in a fight can be risky.
"I think I would have just grabbed my phone and called 911 and try to get a group of people to help out, you know, break them apart," she said.
Police say they never received a report about the fight, and so far no one has come forward.
The video, which went viral, has attracted a range of reactions.
"In capital letters, BRUTALITY. Just brutality. That's all I can say about it. It's sad," said Mario Ramos, a Long Beach resident.
Fight videos on local transit are nothing new. Last December, one showed a violent confrontation that led to two arrests.
Riders say they just try to avoid getting mixed up in violence.
Since no report was taken, it's not clear how serious that man's injuries were, or how he even managed to get off the train.
