Victorville Man Arrested For Numerous Counts Of Annoying Children, Indecent Exposure

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — A 26-year-old Victorville man was in custody Thursday for allegedly engaging in several incidents of indecent exposure.

David Adaberto Vargas was arrested Tuesday for multiple counts of annoying and molesting children with a prior conviction, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

On Sept. 4, 2014 around 4 p.m., Vargas reportedly walked up to a 17-year-old girl near La Mesa Road and Stanford Drive while she was walking to school, asked the victim for directions to the mall and then pulled down his pants and masturbated in front of her, officials said.

Detectives believe Vargas approached at least six other female victims between Jan. 7, 2015 and March 16, 2015 around 7:30 a.m. in the areas near Arvilla Drive and Princeton Drive and Mesa Linda Avenue and Dos Palmas Road.

He similarly asked teenagers for directions to the mall, continued to follow them in his vehicle as they tried to walk away and masturbated in front at least three of them, Det. Rodney Gardner said.

Vargas drove a 2001 white Chevrolet Malibu four-door sedan with license plate 7ENL446, and later drove a 1996 black Nissan Maxima four-door sedan with the same license plate number.

He was booked Tuesday into the High Desert Detention Center on $100,000 bail.

Officials believe the suspect may have committed similar acts that were not reported.

Anyone with information regarding the assaults was asked to contact the Victorville Station, Det. Gardner at (760)241-2911. Callers wishing to remain anonymous were urged to call the We-tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or online at www.wetip.com.
