Too Many Twos? Tuesday's Date Of 2-22-22 Celebrated As Palindrome, Digital Ambigram

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — For the second time this month, the world is celebrating "twosday."

Tuesday is Feb. 22, 2022, just a couple of weeks after the calendar read 2-2-22 – Feb. 2, 2022. Today's palindrome date might be just a little bit more special, just because it's occurring on a Tuesday – or "twos-day."

Even more interesting and rare, today's date is not only a palindrome, but also an ambigram – it reads the same even upside down when viewed on a digital display.

And, if palindromes are a passion, Sunday actually kicked off more than a week of palindrome dates. Sunday's date was 2-20-22 and the palindrome pattern continues all the way until next Monday, 2-28-22.

The lucky confluence of digits has couples flocking to Santa Ana's Old County Courthouse, which has been booked for weeks. The county has extended its hours to accommodate the rush, and even though walk-ins will be accepted, officials say couples should be prepared to wait.

Babies born Tuesday will also have a fun birthdate for the rest of their lives. Danny, who was born Tuesday to Dima Wannous and Samir Al-shareef of Palmdale at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, will be one of those lucky 2-22-22 kids. However, while little Danny did not hit the jackpot by being born at 2:22 a.m., there's still time for other babies to be born at 2:22 p.m.

Couples flocked to the courthouses to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime date. Many of the lovebirds will travel up the steps of the historic Santa Ana courthouse for a candlelit ceremony for 34 couples,  however, many more couldn't wait for the night and flooded the Orange County Clerk's office with appointments to get married on this palindromic date.

"To start the day, we had over 250 appointments already for the day, not counting walk-ins," said recorder Hugh Nguyen.

According to Nguyen, on average his staff processes 100 appointments on a normal day.

"I chose this day first because the date itself, 2-22-22 is something special," said bride Hengameh Ghandehari. "Won't happen again."

She also said that it also represented the couple, the two of them.
