Travel Experts Say LAX Will Be Busiest Airport In The U.S. During Holiday Season

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The number of people flying out of LAX is expected to be up 8 percent from last year.

Travel experts say LAX will be the busiest US airport during the holidays, mainly due to lower airfares this year.

It's not just more travelers, either. The airport has added more security in anticipation of the busy holiday season.

LAX police say that since the Paris terror attacks, they've been on enhanced deployement, meaning more uniformed, motorcycle and undercover officers at the airport.

The enhanced police presence gives some locals comfort as they gear up to travel for the holidays.

"You think about what's going to happen next, and where is it going to be, and there's so many people at airports, you never know, it's scary," Santa Clarita resident Ari Slauson told KCAL9's Andrea Fujii.

At Union Station, there's also enhanced security efforts as Metro says that travelers may notice more armed guards.

The busiest travel days at LAX are expected to be Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.
