Sylmar Man, 60, Found Guilty Of Murdering His Wife After Believing She Was Cheating

SAN FERNANDO (  —  Authorities said a 60-year-old Sylmar man was convicted Wednesday in the murder of his wife of 25 years after he believed she was cheating on him.

Albino Topete Morales thought his 45-year-old wife, Maria, was having an affair, even though he had no proof, according to testimony presented at trial.

The couple's son called 911 after hearing gunfire inside the home on Aug. 11, 2014.

Along with murder, Morales was convicted of shooting at an inhabited dwelling. A bullet went into a nearby house and whizzed over their heads of his neighbors as they watched TV, according to DA Ani Bailey.

Morales is facing up to 57 years to life in state prison, with sentencing set for Jan. 20 at the San Fernando courthouse.
