Super Scoopers Help Knock Down Wind-Driven Fire In Malibu

MALIBU ( — Firefighters made quick work of a wind-fueled fire Friday that quickly scorched more than two acres of brush in the Malibu area.

Fire crews arrived on scene around 12:30 p.m. near Latigo Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway for the second-alarm fire, according to the county fire department.

Crews reported winds of about 30 mph at the scene of the roughly four-acre fire at one point.

Nearly 200 firefighters and two Super Scoopers were on hand to help contain the small blaze.

The flames were contained in about an hour, but some firefighters remained at the scene to help mop up hot spots, according to the fire department.
