Sunday Library Hours Restored At 9 LA-Area Locations
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nine Los Angeles-area public libraries are opening again on Sunday, starting Jan. 12.
An afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti at the Los Angeles Central Library was expected to mark the restoration of the Sunday hours.
Other city leaders were expected to attend ceremonies at the eight other locations.
Measure L funded the reinstatement of the Sunday hours. The measure also allocates funds for the purchase of additional books and materials.
Back in 2010 and 2011, the library system lost nearly 300 librarians and other staff due to budget cuts.
