Study Confirms Traffic Is Getting Worse In Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A study confirms . . . once again, that traffic is getting worse in Los Angeles.

Commuters worldwide spend about 168 hours — or one week — sitting in traffic every year, according to an annual traffic index report released Tuesday by GPS maker TomTom.

Los Angeles was ranked the 10th worst city in the world for congestion in 2014, topping the list in the United States.

The average daily delay for a 30 minute commute adds an additional 25 minutes, the company reported.

According to the study, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings were the worst congestion times.

The top 10 U.S. cities with the worst traffic were:

  1. Los Angeles
  2. San Francisco
  3. Honolulu
  4. New York
  5. Seattle
  6. San Jose
  7. Miami
  8. Chicago
  9. Washington
  10. Portland
