Stroke Awareness Event To Take Place During Sunday's Clippers Game

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Employees from local hospitals will attempt to raise awareness of the symptoms of a stroke and the importance of calling 911 at the Los Angeles Clippers game on Sunday.

Participants of "Box Out Stroke", who will be wearing bright yellow shirts with a list of stroke warnings printed on the back, will provide information and answer any questions fans may have.

Announcements about strokes will take place during the game, and fans will be provided with take-home information.

With early detection, the effects of stroke, which is the fourth-leading cause of death and leading cause of disability, can be reduced and often reversed, Dr. Patrick Lynden, chair of the Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said.

Sunday's game will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Staples Center against the Philadelphia 76ers.
