Man Wanted For Attacking 13-Year-Old Girl In Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Wednesday to locate a man who attacked a 13-year-old girl as she walked to her home in Simi Valley.

According to police, the incident was reported around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday near Stearns and Cochran streets.

A preliminary investigation revealed the juvenile encountered an unknown man as she exited a City of Simi Valley Bus and walked towards her home.

Police said the man grabbed her and tried to force her to leave with him.

When a concerned citizen honked their horn at the man, he let the juvenile go.

She fled to her home and told her dad what happened, who then notified authorities.

Detectives described the suspect as a Hispanic man believed to be between 30 to 40 years old who has black hair, stands 5-foot-5 tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Police wish to speak with the person who prevented the attack from escalating.

The investigation is ongoing.
