With summer over, it's time to celebrate the beginnings of fall. From the last of the outdoor movie events to food festivals and the start of Halloween-inspired activities, September offers a ton of great things to do.

The LA County Fair is back again this year and promises to be bigger and better than years before! When it comes to thinking of LA, one might not think of fried foods, farm animals, fair rides and competitions, but the beauty of Los Angeles is its diverse cultural events. Dare to discover rides, the Jurassic planet exhibit, the Farm at the Fairplex, and dare to indulge in award-winning wines, spirits, craft beers, tasty eats. PaleyFest Fall TV Previews is back for its 10th year, and is once again giving audiences a sneak peek into some of the most highly anticipated series premiering this fall. Tonight's festivities start with a red carpet for the new show Pure Genius, followed by a screening and panel discussion. Cast and crew, including Dermot Mulroney and Jason Katims, will be on hand to answer questions and give insight into the new show. Screenings of Kevin Can Wait, MacGyver, and Bull will follow, giving you a full night of insider tv viewing.

There's nothing quite like an outdoor movie. Grab a blanket, and some food and picnic at Barnsdall Park and watch screenings from the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation and the cinefamily. Throughout September, the west lawn of Hollyhock House will be the setting for five movies, which will be shown in terrific high resolution quality. Before the screenings, DJ's as well as wine tasting and food from food trucks will be on hand as well. The event is 21+ though, and pets are not allowed.

The Ace Hotel's theatre is a great setting to see a classic band. Wilco will be playing a three night series at the theatre, along with opening acts Kevin Morby, Jeff Parker and Dave & Phil Alvin. All shows begin at 7:30pm, but come earlier and enjoy a drink inside the hotel.

Are you ready to have a totally rad Friday? Tonight the L.A. Zoo goes full 80s with their Roaring Nights summer music series, complete with a live 80's cover band, and tributes to Prince and David Bowie. Legendary 80's DJ, Richard Blade, will also be spinning the hits of the decade, while two additional DJs will host a "Silent Disco," where guests can make their own musical choices with wireless headphones. Dress to impress with your best 80's attire for not only some fun album cover photo ops, but also the chance to win a costume contest. Of course there will be food trucks and full-service bars to keep you going, as well as a "Neon Paint Party," vintage video games, and pop-up zookeeper talks and animal encounters. This bodacious bash is for ages 18 and up, and goes from 7pm - 11pm.

Universal Studios has amped up its annual Halloween event, Halloween Horror Nights, by making it scarier than past years! That is pretty hard to do! Featuring more surprises, more screams, seven themed mazes, scare zones, and a terror tram with tie ins to popular TV shows and movies like "The Walking Dead," "The Purge," Halloween," "The Exorcist" and more, you'll can be sure you'll be pretty scared by the end of the evening. Each week throughout the summer, the series travels to a different location around the city offering screenings of cult films on inflatable screens, as well as bites from food trucks and music from great bands. Tonight's event is from 5pm to 10pm and will be showing Purple Rain. Begin the evening by listening to live music by Vokes, and enjoying delicious bites from a wide range of food trucks like B Sweet, Canvas, The Grilled Cheese Truck, The Lobos Truck, Brasil Kiss, and many more. Knott's Halloween Haunt is one of the oldest and largest events held at Knott's Berry Farm.
