1 wounded during attempted robbery turned shooting near Santa Monica Pier
One person was wounded during an attempted robbery turned shooting near the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday night.
According to Santa Monica Police Department officials, it happened at around 7:50 p.m. near the pier ramp, when a man was approached by a group of people who attempted to rob him.
An altercation broke out between the two parties, and police said that one person produced a firearm and shot the victim in the leg before they fled the area.
The victim, who hasn't been publicly identified, was treated at the scene by Santa Monica PD officers until paramedics took him to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, police said that a juvenile was arrested in connection with the incident.
"Investigators are working to determine the juvenile's role in the attempted robbery and shooting," a news release from SMPD said on Monday. "Detectives continue working to identify and locate the remaining individuals involved."
