Santa Ana Police Crack Down On Motorists Who Failed To Yield To Pedestrians
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana police Thursday conducted a two-hour crackdown on motorists who failed to yield to pedestrians.
Police issued 54 citations to drivers at Main and 15th streets and 33 at Main and Walnut streets between 8 and 10 a.m.
The tickets were issued when motorists did not yield to undercover officers who were crossing the street at crosswalks, officials said.
The crackdown was prompted after an 11-year-old girl was killed while crossing the street on the morning of July 24.
Alex Zuniga was struck and killed at Bristol Street near 10th Street. Her 8-year-old brother was hit and hospitalized in critical condition.
