Riverside Photojournalist Falls To Death While Trimming Tree At Home
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a man fell to his death Saturday while he was trimming a tree at his Riverside home.
Firefighters answered a call at a home in the 4000 block of Beachwood Place where the man was pronounced dead, Riverside Fire Battalion Chief Scott Blair said.
The victim -- identified Sunday as 46-year-old Gabriel Luis Acosta -- was alone when he fell 15-20 feet from a ladder, according to Blair.
Acosta, an award-winning photojournalist by trade, reportedly broke both legs and suffered a head injury.
Relatives later arrived at the home and called 911, Blair said.
Acosta ran GLA Photo in Riverside and was a staff photographer for the San Bernardino Sun, according to his website.
The deceased, a native of Southern California, was also a staff photographer for Riverside Magazine as well as an avid artist and oil painter.
