Report: LAUSD Officials Suspended Over 'Personnel Matter'

LOS ANGELES ( — A San Fernando Valley local superintendent and three additional Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) officials were removed from the current positions amid an internal investigation, according to a report Thursday.

KNX 1070's Ron Kilgore reports Linda Del Cueto, Instructional Area Superintendent for the North Education Service Center, and Michael Romero, Executive Director for Adult Education and Options, were removed from their positions last Friday, according to The Daily News.

As of Thursday morning, Romero's title was still listed as Superintendent for Local District 8 on the LAUSD website.

David Kooper and Valerie Moses, principals at Gulf and Los Angeles Elementary schools, respectively, have also been removed.

District officials notified LAUSD principals and staff as early as April 19 (PDF) of the moves "pending the conclusion of an internal investigation into a confidential personnel matter", according to documents obtained by The Daily News.

"There is no set date for the conclusion of the investigation," Superintendent John Deasy wrote.

The LAUSD is issuing no statement while the investigation is pending, according to district spokesperson Mayra Ramirez.
