Redondo Beach Man Charged With Murdering Girlfriend
REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old Redondo Beach man was charged on Friday with murdering his girlfriend, with whom he had an 8-month-old child.
Roy Rodriguez Jr. was arrested after a half-hour standoff with authorities in Redondo Beach on Wednesday afternoon after police responded to a call of shots fired at a home on the 2500 block of Graham Avenue in Redondo Beach. The caller who reported the incident said a woman in her 20s had been shot in the head by a man inside of the home, police said.
Rodriguez was initially booked on suspicion of attempted murder. After the victim, Paige Chiarello, 20, died at a hospital from a gunshot wound to her head at about 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Rodriguez was re-booked on suspicion of murder.
The murder count includes an allegation that Rodriguez personally and intentionally discharged a handgun. He is also charged with one felony count of dissuading a witness by force or threat and two felony counts of criminal threats against a separate victim.
