LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Anti-Trump protesters blocked lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway in the Boyle Heights area Thursday afternoon.
Protesters congregated at around 3 p.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway near the N Eastern Ave. exit, as well as on a nearby overpass.
Traffic was backed up considerably on the westbound side of the freeway. Traffic was also slowed on the eastbound side.
California Highway Patrol officers were working to disperse the crowds. At around 3:20 p.m., the crowds were removed from the freeway. Some protesters briefly remained on a nearby on-ramp.
The crowds were believed to be students of Cal State Los Angeles.
Protesters blocked parts of the 101 Freeway on Wednesday evening during a separate protest.
The LAPD said Thursday it has adopted a "zero tolerance" policy for protesters blocking freeways.
Mayor Eric Garcetti said Thursday that he supports peaceful demonstrations, but admonished protesters to stay off freeways.
