Prosecutors Drop Murder Charges Against Former Tournament Of Roses Director
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Prosecutors decided Friday not to file charges against a former Tournament of Roses Association director who was arrested this week in a 2004 cold case murder.
Prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue a murder case against Richard Allen Munnecke, the district attorney's office said.
The 71-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of 59-year-old Donna Lee Kelly.
Munnecke was arrested after his DNA was a match to evidence recovered from Kelly's body.
Kelly was reported missing in April 2004. Her body was found in the trunk of her car three weeks later by her daughter, Diane, who noticed a foul odor, the sheriff's department said.
