Pregnant woman, father dead after police pursuit in Pomona ends in crash
A pregnant woman and her boyfriend are dead after a police pursuit in Pomona ended in a crash on Wednesday night.
The father of the victim said his son, Marc Anthony Trejo, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Alejandra Loera Zarco, were expecting their baby any day now, before they were both tragically killed.
"It hits different when it's your own son and I really don't have the words for it, but I don't wish this on anybody," Tony Trejo said.
"They were so excited. They had plans, they had projects. They were both very artistic, Jennifer and Marc, and yeah... that's where the story ends."
Around 9:33 p.m., officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to a domestic violence call in the 400 block of E. Tenth Street.
When officers arrived and made contact with the victim, the suspect returned to the residence in a truck and intentionally hit one of the patrol vehicles before speeding away.
Police initiated a pursuit traveling southbound on Garey Avenue, and the suspect crashed into another vehicle near Garey Avenue and County Road. Both the driver and passenger in the victim vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers found a firearm and other firearm components inside the suspect's vehicle. Pomona police said the suspect was driving without a valid license.
The suspect, identified as Marshall Judson, 31, was taken into custody and booked for vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon on a Peace Officer, driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, felony evasion, and firearm-related charges.
Several grieving family members of the Santa Ana couple made their way to the Pomona intersection on Thursday and laid a wreath where they died.
"Oh man, they were super excited. I was excited watching them be excited, and it wasn't going to be my baby. I was going to be the grandfather," Trejo said.
The family members of Trejo and Zarco have set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money to cover funeral expenses.
