Suspect Sought In Armored Truck Robbery In Parking Lot Of Inglewood Bank

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police were investigating an apparent robbery of an armored truck in the parking lot of an Inglewood bank, authorities said.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a Wells Fargo bank branch located along the 400 block of South Market Street around 9:15 a.m., according to an LAPD spokesman.

Two men inside a Brinks armored truck were at the bank to service the ATM when the suspect - described as a lone male Hispanic - approached them demanding money, police said.

It appears that "rounds were exchange" between one of the Brinks drivers and the suspect, according to police.

Antoinette Carter, who had just opened up her postal business down the street, told CBS2/KCAL9's Dave Lopez she heard about 9 or 10 gunshots fired.

Wearing a black bandanna to cover his face, the suspect grabbed "some bags of money," but police would not say how much.

No one was in the bank branch at the time of the shooting, police said.
