Man Taken Into Custody After Hours-Long Standoff In Burbank

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — A man was taken into custody after standoff that lasted for several hours in Burbank.

The incident unfolded Tuesday afternoon in the area of Third Street and Magnolia Boulevard, according to Burbank police.

The vehicle in question, according to Sky 9's Stu Mundel, was reported to have been taken during an alleged burglary Monday.

"Burbank police spotted this vehicle here driving on Third Street near Magnolia [Boulevard]. They lit them up and he basically pulled over. Just a regular traffic stop but then that suspect refused to get out. That's when the standoff started," Mundel said.

Aerial footage showed the car wedged in between armored and police vehicles with several officers on scene, as well as police dogs.

The suspect was taken into custody just before 5 p.m., Mundel said.

No injuries were reported.
