Police Arrest Man In Connection To Hollywood Hammer Robberies

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police arrested a man early Monday wanted in connection to a string of smash-and-grab street robberies that occurred last week.

The unidentified suspect was arrested after using a hammer to threaten a victim during a robbery around midnight at Lexington and Cherokee avenues in Hollywood, Los Angeles police said.

The crime occurred near the area where four robberies took place over a 30-minute period on the night of March 4.

Those robberies began at the intersection of Selma Avenue and Schraeder Boulevard and then continued to the 1300 block of Wilcox Avenue and the intersections of June Street and Lexington Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard and Waring Avenue, according to authorities.

Police say the suspect and as many as four other Hispanic men, possibly armed with hammers, knives and even a Taser, threatened four separate victims who were getting into or out of their vehicles.

The suspects stole cash, wallets, cell phones and purses.

Police are still searching for the remaining suspects.
