One Killed In Small Plane Crash In Rural Antelope Valley

LOS ANGELES ( — One person was killed Thursday in the crash of a small airplane about six miles west of Santa Clarita, officials said.

The small aircraft went down shortly before 12:40 p.m. near 165th Street East and East Avenue X in the Llano area of Los Angeles County, about six miles west of Santa Clarita, according to the county fire department.

No other casualties were reported in the crash, which did not cause any fire, fire officials said.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating the crash, the single-engine Piper PA25 was occupied only by its pilot.

The aircraft was reportedly registered to the Southern California Soaring Academy located at nearby Crystal Airport.
