Police arrested a man in Perris on Friday after he allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter with an undercover officer who was posing as an underage girl online.

Victor Bustamante, 54, was booked on suspicion of arranging to meet a minor for felonious purposes, sending pornographic material to a minor and attempted lewd acts on a child after he was taken into custody. He remains behind bars on $55,000 bail, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators began to investigate Bustamante in January, after an undercover investigator with the department's Special Enforcement Team posted on social media while posing as a 13-year-old girl.

"A response was received from Bustamante," deputies said. "During several days of communication with Bustamante, he ultimately agreed to meet to perform sex acts with the under-age female."

That meetup was scheduled for Friday morning at an undisclosed location on S. Redlands Avenue in Perris, deputies said. When he arrived for the meeting, Bustamante was taken into custody.

No further information was provided.

Anyone who may know more is urged to contact detectives with RSO's Perris Station at (951) 210–1000.
