'Operation Fashion Faux Pas' Nets Designer Knockoffs In OC
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of counterfeit goods have been seized following a six-month crackdown on multiple retailers in Orange County, officials announced Friday.
A news release issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the bogus high-end purses, watches, jewelry, cosmetics and perfumes were seized this week allegedly from five different retailers during "Operation Fashion Faux Pas."
"These types of goods present a risk to the individual. For example, you don't know what they are made of. They're not regulated by the FDA like the genuine products because they're counterfeit and they good cause you harm," said Claude Arnold, a Homeland Security Investigations special agent.
The vendors targeted included a hair salon in Tustin, a Garden Grove shoe store, Huntington Beach kiosks, as well as residences in Newport Beach and Westminster.
