Officials Safely Locate Man In Manhattan Beach

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Friday searched near the Manhattan Beach Pier for a man who did not resurface after jumping off of the pier with his friends.

Crews were sent to the Manhattan Beach Pier shortly before 3:30 a.m. for report of someone in need of assistance, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned a man jumped into the ocean around 2:30 a.m. but did not resurface from the ocean.

His friends called 911 to report the incident.

Officials conducted an aerial search of the area.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., the man was safely found in a nearby area, not in the ocean.

Manhattan Beach firefighters and police officers have responded to assist in the search.
