2 Missing Hikers Found Near Cleveland National Forest In Corona

CORONA (CBSLA.com) — Sheriff's officials said two missing hikers who were last seen Tuesday afternoon near the Cleveland National Forest have been found safe.

Family members of Jasmine Jackson and Amanda Sanchez reported them missing around 12:30 a.m., according to the Corona Police Department.

Jackson, 23, and Sanchez, 22, appeared weak and were walking slowly when they walked out of the area under their own power.

Sanchez's vehicle was located on Black Star Canyon Road and Skyline Drive near the Skyline trail head in Corona. Her phone was located inside.

Officials determined Jackson's phone was last used in Eastvale but appeared to be turned off around 8 p.m.

Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies were called in around 2:45 a.m. to assist in the search.

Both women were considered to be inexperienced hikers.

Their scent was picked up by a bloodhound earlier Wednesday.

The women told authorities they simply "got lost on one of the trails", said CBS2's Tom Wait.

"It's the happiest day in the world for me," eter Sanchez of Murrieta told reporters. His daughter Amanda was one of the two reported missing. "I was wishing I could find them, and I found them."
