Officer Shot Multiple Times During Traffic Stop In Fullerton
FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A 7-year veteran of the Fullerton Police Department has been hospitalized after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop in Orange County.
About 12:15 a.m. Sunday, the officer attempted a traffic stop at Woods and Knepp Avenues when police say the driver fired at him.
"As he approached the vehicle, the driver produced a handgun and fired at the officer striking him multiple times," Sgt. Jeff Stuart, a Fullerton Police Department spokesman told KNX 1070 Newsradio. "The officer was able to return fire. It's unknown if anyone was struck in the vehicle."

Several shell casings were recovered at the scene.
William Chang, a nearby resident, noticed that his home was struck by a bullet. Another home just across the street was also hit. No one inside was hurt.
"I hear the gunshot. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang," said Chang.
Investigators say the suspect vehicle, believed to have been abandoned by the suspects, was recovered on the eastbound 60 Freeway at the Market Street off-ramp.
A female occupant was taken into custody. It's unknown if she was present at the time of the officer-involved shooting.
The other occupants of that vehicle, including the shooter, remained at large.
CBS2's Art Barron reports that the officer is expected to make a full recovery. At last word, he was reportedly alert and conscious at a hospital.
