OC Surfer, 63, Dies After Collapsing On His Board
ALISO VIEJO (CBS) — A 63-year-old Orange County man died after collapsing onto his surfboard in Oceanside off Camp Pendleton, the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday.
Charles Solon Todd Jr. of Aliso Viejo had been surfing Saturday morning at Surf Beach. Witnesses observed Todd ride a wave into shore, sit on his board, and then collapse forward, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said.
He was pulled from the water immediately by bystanders, who called for lifeguards. Despite attempts to revive the man, Todd was pronounced dead at the scene, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
An autopsy is planned.
