OC Reports Single-Day Record With 434 New Cases Of COVID-19
SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — For a second consecutive day, health officials in Orange County are reporting a record number of coronavirus cases, announcing 434 newly confirmed cases, and two additional deaths.
To date, the county has seen 10,422 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 269 individuals have died.
According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, last week marked the county's deadliest since the pandemic began with 55 COVID-19 deaths reported between June 13th through the 19th.
Elsewhere, in Los Angeles County, there were 11 new deaths and 1,784 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday. Of those who died, four were over the age of 65, and eight had underlying health conditions.
"COVID-19 has left many families mourning a loved one. "As more businesses reopen, it is important that they follow all of the protocols and directives issued by the LA County Health Officer, and that all customers and visitors practice physical distancing and wear cloth face coverings. These are the actions that allow us to continue our recovery journey, and these actions will be essential to ensure that we don't overwhelm our healthcare system and see increased numbers of deaths from COVID-19."
