O.C. Couple Stumbles Upon Decades-Old Pictures While Geocaching In Buena Park

GARDEN GROVE ( — Garden Grove residents Richard and Kelly Fujikawa are trying to reunite the rightful owners of 150 photos they stumbled upon in Buena Park last month.

The pictures capturing milestones in life date back to the 1970s and some as recent as 2012.

They were discovered by the Fujikawas while the pair was geocaching on Beach Boulevard and Los Coyotes Drive on Feb. 22.

"A geocaching is a treasure hunt, and we found a treasure we weren't looking for," Kelly Fujikawa told KCAL9's Rachel Kim.

Some of the decades-old photos show a school picture, a family photo and a grandfather holding a birthday cake.

Many only indicate the first name of the individual depicted.

As Kim reports, with so many different faces over so many years, the Fujikawas attempted to group the photos based on who they thought would be related, but that hasn't led to the clues they were hoping for.

"There's so much diversity that it was really difficult to get anything, to make heads or tails of any family," Richard Fujikawa said.

Meanwhile, the couple hopes someone recognizes the faces or the names and comes forward so generations of memories won't be lost.

"It doesn't take a lot to do something kind for someone else but it could mean a lot for them," said Kelly Fujikawa, while Richard said: "If it was me, I'd be really wanting to get these back."
