Nyquist Wins 142nd Annual Kentucky Derby
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nyquist crossed the finish line first in the 142nd annual Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
He became the 8th horse ever to win the Kentucky Derby while still undefeated.
Exaggerator finished in 2nd place, while Gun Runner took third.
Owner Paul Reddam, a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings, named the horse after player Gustav Nyquist.
The horse's namesake, Gustav Nyquist, was unable to attend the Derby, but wished Nyquist luck via Twitter.
Best of luck to @TheNyquistHorse running @KentuckyDerby this weekend!
