North Hollywood Man Pleads Not Guilty To Fatal Metro Red Line Stabbing

LOS ANGELES ( — A North Hollywood man pleaded not guilty Friday to fatally stabbing a passenger on a Metro Red Line subway,

Angelo Correa, 24, has been charged with murdering Jose Edgardo Velazco-Alvarado on the morning of Jan. 13 while the train was stopped at the Vermont/Santa Monica Boulevard station.

Velazco-Alvarado, who was stabbed in the neck, died at a local hospital.

The alleged crime was caught on video inside the train, and officials arrested Correa Jan. 17 at his North Hollywood home.

The suspect, who was being held on $1 million bail, was scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary hearing March 10.
