APPLE VALLEY (CBSLA) — The aunt of a missing 6-year-old boy in Apple Valley was arrested Saturday morning, authorities said.

Duke Flores was last seen in the area of Cherokee Avenue and Pawnee Road, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reports.

His grandmother said she was the last one to see him at his parent's house — and that was 13 days ago. Another relative called police asking for a welfare check on the boy.

Friday evening, search dogs joined in the hunt, and by Saturday morning, the search was still ongoing.

The boy's family told CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Adrianna Weingold despite the fact his mother and aunt have both been arrested they are still hoping he is found safe.

Many volunteer searchers felt the same way.

"It's a little boy," says volunteer Yvonne Ayala, "he's only 6-years-old. He didn't deserve this."

The boys uncle, Angel Gutierrez,   says he and other family members are having trouble wrapping their head's around the boy's disappearance.

"I've known that kid since he was a baby, I remember I used to carry him in my arms...its emotional. I'm trying not to break down at the moment. I'm still saying strong for him," says Gutierrez.

Flores is described as a light-skinned Latino, 3-foot-10, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is tall for his age.

Meanwhile, the boy's mother and aunt are both being held without bail.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are continuing the search for Flores.
